1. The agreement

These terms are between you and the developer of ScriptureScroll ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. Where these terms and that agreement conflict, Apple's terms govern the licence to use the software itself, and these terms govern everything else.

2. Your licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use ScriptureScroll on Apple devices you own or control, in line with Apple's App Store terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, redistribute, or resell the app, except where the law says you may regardless of this clause.

The app's name, design, artwork and code remain ours. Nothing here transfers ownership of them.

3. Subscription and free trial

ScriptureScroll requires a paid subscription. The price, the billing period, and the length of any free trial are shown in the app, in your own currency, before you confirm the purchase.

• Payment. Charges are made to your App Store account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
• Free trial. If your subscription starts with a free trial, it converts automatically into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel first. If you allowed notifications, the app will remind you two days before that happens.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• One trial per Apple ID. A free trial is available once. Reinstalling the app does not start a new one — that is Apple's rule, applied per Apple ID, and we cannot override it.
• Price changes. If the price changes, Apple will tell you and ask you to consent before your next renewal is charged at the new price.

4. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time on your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ScriptureScroll → Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling during a free trial costs nothing.

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. You must cancel through Settings.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we cannot issue them. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you are in the UK or the EU, statutory rights to cancel a digital purchase may also apply; contact us and we will help you raise it with Apple.

If your subscription lapses, the app stops blocking your apps and releases any that were blocked. It will not hold your phone hostage to a subscription you no longer have.

5. What the blocking can and cannot do

Blocking is built on Apple's Screen Time framework and works within its limits. It requires iOS 16 or later and your permission, which you can withdraw at any time in iOS Settings.

ScriptureScroll is a habit tool, not a security or parental control system. A determined person can disable Screen Time permission, change the blocked list, or delete the app. Do not rely on it to enforce anything that matters — supervision of a child, a legal obligation, or a recovery programme. If you are dealing with a compulsion that is harming you, please speak to a qualified professional. This app is not treatment and does not claim to be.

We also cannot guarantee that blocking works perfectly on every device or through every iOS update. Apple changes these frameworks, and sometimes they behave differently than documented.

6. Bible text

The app offers the King James Version, the World English Bible, the Bible in Basic English, and the Clementine Vulgate. These are in the public domain in most jurisdictions. In the United Kingdom the King James Version is subject to Crown letters patent, and is reproduced here under the permission customarily given for non-commercial and devotional reproduction of the text.

Text is downloaded from public sources described in the privacy policy. We do not guarantee it is free of transcription errors, and it should not be treated as an authoritative critical edition.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for anything unlawful.
• Interfere with it, or try to bypass the subscription check.
• Extract the Bible text in bulk through the app in a way that burdens the third-party sources it draws from.

We may end your access if you materially breach these terms. Where the breach is fixable, we will say what the problem is and give you a reasonable chance to fix it first.

8. Availability and changes

We may update the app, change or remove features, or stop offering it altogether. If we discontinue it, we will not charge you for a renewal after that point, and any period you have already paid for will run out normally.

If we change these terms, the date at the top changes with them. Material changes will be shown in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the revised terms.

9. Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will change your habits.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from your reliance on the blocking feature. Our total liability to you, for any claim connected with the app, is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

11. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple is not responsible for any claim relating to the app, including product liability, failure to meet legal requirements, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings there.
