Common questions
My apps are not being blocked
Work through these in order:
- Check the permission. Open iOS Settings → Screen Time → App & Website Activity, and make sure Screen Time is on. Then in Settings → ScriptureScroll, confirm Screen Time access is allowed.
- Check you picked something. In ScriptureScroll, tap Edit next to the blocked apps row. If the picker is empty, nothing is selected yet.
- Check your subscription is active. Blocking stops when a subscription lapses, by design.
- Check you have not already read today. Once you hit your goal, apps stay open until tomorrow.
- Restart your iPhone. Screen Time occasionally needs it after an iOS update.
Blocking needs iOS 16 or later, and does not work on iPad or Mac.
I declined the Screen Time permission and want to turn it back on
Go to iOS Settings → ScriptureScroll and enable Screen Time access, then reopen the app and choose your apps again. If the option is not there, make sure Screen Time itself is turned on in Settings → Screen Time first.
If your device is managed through Family Sharing or a school or work profile, the permission may be blocked by whoever manages it.
How do I cancel my subscription or free trial?
On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ScriptureScroll → Cancel Subscription.
Cancelling during a free trial costs nothing. After cancelling you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription — you have to cancel in Settings.
I want a refund
Refunds are issued by Apple, not by us, so we cannot process one for you. Request it at reportaproblem.apple.com using the Apple ID that made the purchase.
If the refund is refused and you think that is unfair, email us and we will do what we can to help you raise it.
I paid, but the app still asks me to subscribe
Open ScriptureScroll → Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID that made the purchase, and that you have a working connection.
If it still does not restore, email us with the date of purchase and we will look into it.
The free trial is not being offered to me
Apple allows one free trial per Apple ID for a given subscription. If you have used it before — even a long time ago, or before reinstalling — you will be offered the subscription without a trial. That is Apple's rule and we cannot grant an exception.
I lost my streak or my tree died
The streak continues as long as you hit your daily goal each day. Miss enough days and the tree withers — that is intentional, and it is the part that makes the habit stick.
If the streak reset while you were sure you had read, tell us the dates and what you saw, and we will investigate. Progress is stored only on your device, so we cannot look it up ourselves.
Can I change my daily goal or which apps are blocked?
Yes, at any time. The goal is in Settings; the blocked apps are behind Edit on the home screen, which reopens Apple's picker.
Will my reading sync to another device?
Not currently. Everything is stored on the iPhone you use, which is also why none of it reaches us. If you move to a new phone, your streak does not travel with it.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything the app knows about you lives on the device and goes with it — your name, streak, saved verses and settings. There is no copy on a server.
The one exception is your purchase record, held by Apple and by RevenueCat. See the privacy policy, or email us and we will request its deletion.
Which translations are available?
King James Version, World English Bible, Bible in Basic English, and the Clementine Vulgate. Switch between them from the translation button at the top of the Bible tab.
Is there an Android version?
No. The blocking is built on Apple's Screen Time framework, which has no direct equivalent on Android, so an Android version would be a different app rather than a port.
